Key Dates for Domestic Shipping

UPS recommends the following ship-by dates for scheduled delivery by December 24, 2026. Some destinations require earlier shipment. These dates are planning guidance, not an unconditional delivery guarantee; confirm the service, origin, destination and pickup time.

UPS 3 Day Select®: The recommended last day to ship is December 21.

UPS 2nd Day Air®: The recommended last day to ship is December 22.

UPS Next Day Air®: The recommended last day to ship is December 23 for scheduled December 24 delivery.

Keep in mind that in addition to these deadlines, UPS also applies demand surcharges during the peak season that may affect your costs.

UPS Ground has no single national cutoff. Use UPS Calculate Time and Cost for your origin and destination ZIP codes. Set your customer-facing order cutoff earlier to allow time for fulfillment, pickup and delays.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Schedule

Thanksgiving (November 26)

Thanksgiving Day - November 26: No UPS pickup or delivery service. UPS Express Critical® service is available.

Black Friday - November 27: Normal service resumes, perfect for sending out Black Friday purchases.

Christmas (December 25)

Christmas Day: No UPS services except for UPS Express Critical® for urgent needs.

New Year’s Day (January 1, 2027)

New Year’s Day: All services are closed except UPS Express Critical®.

Noteworthy Adjustments:

On December 24 (Christmas Eve), pickup is limited to Air and International Air packages prearranged by December 18; delivery is available for all services. On December 31, pickup and delivery are limited to Air and International Air, with pickup prearranged by December 28. No Ground service is available on December 31.

On December 26, 2026 and January 2, 2027, pickup and delivery are limited to UPS Air and International Air services. Normal service resumes December 28 and January 4, respectively.
